These rich and fudgy chocolate brownies are a chocolate lover’s dream. With a perfect balance of soft, gooey centre and slightly crisp top, they’re easy to make and perfect for any occasion, whether served as a dessert or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate (around 70% cocoa)
  • 100g butter
  • 150g sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 100g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a square baking pan (20x20 cm) with parchment paper.
  • Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water (or microwave in 20-second intervals), stirring until smooth.
  • Whisk the sugar and eggs into the melted chocolate mixture, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Sift the flour and salt into the mixture, folding gently until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a skewer inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before slicing into squares.
