This velvety chocolate mousse is rich, creamy, and easy to make. With just a few ingredients, it offers the perfect balance of sweetness and chocolatey richness, making it an ideal dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate (around 70% cocoa)
  • 250ml double cream
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs (separated)
  • Preparation

  • Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water (or microwave in 20-second intervals), stirring until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the double cream and sugar until soft peaks form.
  • In another bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  • Stir the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate, then gently fold in the whipped cream.
  • Once combined, carefully fold in the beaten egg whites until smooth and airy.
  • Spoon the mousse into individual serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
