Ingredients

  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 300ml warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 7g dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until bubbly.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and oil, then stir to form a dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf tin.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped. Let it cool before slicing.
