This simple and comforting dish combines tender rice cooked in rich beef broth with fresh vegetables for a flavourful and satisfying meal. Perfect as a light main dish or a hearty side, it requires just a few ingredients and minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice (white or brown)
  • 500ml beef broth
  • ½ small cabbage, shredded
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 200g cooked beef, shredded (optional)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Preparation

  • In a pot, bring the beef broth to a boil.
  • Add the rice, cover, and let it simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes (or until the rice is nearly cooked).
  • Stir in the cabbage, carrot, and beef (if using), then cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add soy sauce for extra flavour, stir well, and serve hot.
